Jan comes to LEADERSHIP from St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children where she served as president and chief executive officer since 2004. During her tenure, SCFC served over 50,000 children through comprehensive initiatives that provide health equity, with an emphasis on care, prevention and early intervention strategies. Among her accomplishments, she led the development of multi-sector and multi-partner programs that won the United Way Partnership Prize for Innovation and garnered investment from the Convergence Partnership, comprised of six of the country’s largest health funders.
Jan has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, management, and development. Prior to joining SCFC in 2004, Jan worked in investment management and client services with Morgan Stanley, CMS Companies, and City of London Investment Group PLC. She is a founding member and past Board Chair of The 21st Century Society of the Philadelphia Orchestra, a Fellow of the Non-Profit Executive Leadership Institute at Bryn Mawr College and Harvard Business School Club of Philadelphia Social Enterprise Initiative. She served on the Chairman’s Council for the Philadelphia Zoo and the Treasurer for the Sunday Breakfast Club. Jan has her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Saint Joseph’s University.
Carla is the vice president of programs and operations for LEADERSHIP Philadelphia. She runs programs, recruiting, alumni relations, and administrative operations support, and assists the Board of Directors. She joined LEADERSHIP more than 15 years ago. She brings 13 years of experience from CoreStates, now Wells Fargo, where she served as executive assistant and partner to the executive director, responsible for corporate marketing and brand advertising, sponsorships, corporate communications, community development, and government relations. While situated in the corporate executive headquarters, she represented CoreStates with all stakeholders, including corporate executives, board of directors, members and customers. Carla is active with the youth department at Bethany Baptist Church where she is the chair of the special events committee. She is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she studied business administration. She and her family live in Lindenwold, NJ.
Angela is the program coordinator for LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and the executive assistant to Liz Dow. She handles administrative duties, database, program development, and alumni logistics. She joined LEADERSHIP in 2003, after 19 years with Arthur Andersen, where she served as a senior human resources specialist. Angela is the production coordinator for the Core and Executive programs. She is also the manager of the LEADERSHIP database. She lives in Philadelphia with her two daughters.
Jazon is the Director of Systems & Alumni Engagement at LEADERSHIP Philadelphia, where she is pivotal in optimizing organizational systems and fostering alumni relations. Jazon has dedicated herself to ensuring the team works efficiently and effectively while connecting with its vast network of notable alumni and local nonprofits. Her work ensures that LEADERSHIP’S impact continues to grow.
Before joining LEADERSHIP Philadelphia, Jazon served as the Director of Operations at St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children. Her career began in the for-profit sector as an operations manager, where she honed her skills and fostered her love for community building.
She is a 2022 LEADERSHIP Philadelphia Core program Fellow.Liz Dow, CEO, ran LEADERSHIP Philadelphia for thirty years. She has inspired generations of diverse leaders to serve Philadelphia, connect for the common good, and Pay it Forward. LEADERSHIP alumni range from the past Mayor to the President of the Eagles, the head of the Airport, the Police Commissioner, the U.S. Attorney, several City Commissioners, three City Council members, the CEO of PECO and numerous other leaders in the private, non-profit and public sectors.
Prior to this position, Liz served as senior vice president with FirstUSA (now JPMorgan). She earned an MBA from the Wharton School and an MA from Cornell University. She was a Wharton Public Policy Fellow at the White House. She has served on the boards of the local Knight Foundation, Sunday Breakfast Club, and the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts Foundation. She chaired the Mural Arts board and was on the boards of Girard College, Widener University, MEDecision, Christ Church Preservation Trust, the Please Touch Museum, the Philadelphia History Museum, and the Philadelphia Zoo. She is a graduate of the FBI Citizen’s Academy and was appointed to the Police Community Oversight Board by the previous Mayor. Liz was profiled on the cover of the SmartCEO magazine issue on “Leaders We Admire”. For several years she has been included on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of the City’s Top 100 Influencers. Fast Company named her one of 15 People Who Are Taking Networking to a New Level, and World Cafe Live’s LiveConnections’ gave her the Connector Award. She is the author of the book Six Degrees of Connection and wrote a blog on wonder at work for the Huffington Post. Liz is the proud parent of Scottie Wardell (Los Angeles) and Geoffrey Dow McQuilkin (Chicago).
